Using TR LOG with Mono Displays
I had noticed that TR LOG, when
used with a monochrome monitor, did not have any of the nice "windows"
that the color version did. I especially
missed the "data input" windows (for call and exchange info). Tree
was kind enough to suggest that I set the DISPLAY MODE to COLOR and
then change the "colors" to highlight the windows. He also suggested
that I put all the changes needed in a second CONFIG file (which
TR LOG very nicely supports,)
so as to not "clutter up" the main LOGCFG.DAT file. I have sucessfully
run this on an 80386 machine with a Hurcules graphic card
and a plain old green IBM mono monitor.
To use this setup, first put the following statements in LOGCFG.DAT.
The statements should appear in this order, or the program will not
bother with looking for the file "MONOMODE.DAT", and will run with
"normal" color defaults:
INPUT CONFIG FILE = MONOMODE.DAT
DISPLAY MODE = COLOR
Now place the following "MONOMODE.DAT" (ASCII text) file in the same
subdirectory in which you have TR LOG
:
ALARM WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
BAND MODE WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
BEAM HEADING WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
BIG WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
CALL WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
CALL WINDOW COLOR = BLACK
;CLOCK WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE ;<-Commented out with the semicolon to
CODE SPEED WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE ;make the clock stand out a bit better.
;DATE WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE ;Try removing the semicolons to
DUPE INFO WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE ;make these lines active and see what
DUPESHEET WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE ;the screen looks like with these
EDITABLE LOG WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE ;windows highlighted.
EXCHANGE WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
EXCHANGE WINDOW COLOR = BLACK
INSERT WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
MULTIPLIER INFORMATION WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
;NAME PERCENTAGE WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
;NAME SENT WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
;POSSIBLE CALL WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
POSSIBLE CALL WINDOW DUPE BACKGROUND = WHITE
;QSO INFORMATION WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
QSO NUMBER WINDOW BACKGROUND = WHITE
That's it. I feel that these changes make using
TR LOG with a monochrome display somewhat more
"user friendly". Thanks again, Tree!
